Task sharing strategies have the potential to optimize the skills and competencies of health workers at all levels to increase access to voluntary contraceptive services, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) and permanent methods (PMs), within the context of informed choice. PSI hosted a meeting with USAID and its partners, with the LARC and PM Community of Practice (CoP) to discuss current progress and future opportunities for task sharing.

Youth Health International (YHI)—a Cameroonian youth-led organization and FP2020 Rapid Response Mechanism grant recipient—recently held a seminar for stakeholders in the North West (NW) region where education and health government representatives, traditional and religious leaders, parents, and youths signed a declaration agreeing to “improve the SRH of adolescents in the NW Region, through the reduction of unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortions by increasing contraceptive use by adolescents.”

On June 29 - 30, 2016, FP2020's Reference Group gathered in London, UK, to hold the first of two annual meetings to discuss the overall strategic direction and drive coordination among the partnership’s stakeholders.

We are currently witnessing humanitarian needs on a huge scale, with the impact of armed conflicts and disasters reaching staggering levels. Current humanitarian crises remain complex and long-lasting. Furthermore, in the past years, we have seen the humanitarian context changing and an increased European government investment and interest in humanitarian assistance. Regardless whether it is caused by natural disasters, man-made disasters or complex emergencies, research shows that humanitarian crises intensify sexual and reproductive health related challenges. Humanitarian crises can increase people’s, especially women’s, vulnerability to SRHR related issues such as unwanted or risky pregnancy, unsafe abortions, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual violence and exploitation.

From February 9-11 2016, the Population Council (through the Evidence Project and the STEP UP consortium) and the High Impact Practices (HIP) Collaboration, together with other partners, held the third and final in a series of meetings on Standards of Evidence for Reproductive and Maternal Health Care at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center.

This report of a Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University, and the World Health Organization meeting on family planning financing mechanisms highlights key findings from five systematic reviews on voucher schemes, conditional cash transfers, community-based financing, pay for performance out-of-pocket payments, and user fees.
