Commitments

Australia made a commitment in 2012 to spend an additional AUD58 million over five years on family planning as part of their broader investments in maternal, reproductive, and child health. Since then, Australia has worked with partners to contribute to the Family Planning 2020 goal to enable 120 million more women and girls in the world's poorest countries to use modern contraception by 2020. This includes funding UNFPA programs in the Pacific and in developing countries. Aimed at expanding access to sexual and reproductive health services, reducing unmet need, and providing essential drugs to women and children, these programs provide life-saving services for women and children while advancing women's empowerment and gender equality.
